A natural basin, a cove overlooking a stretch of crystal clear water. We are talking about the Gulf of Diano, the territory ˗ between Capo Berta and Capo Cervo ˗ in which the holiday apartments of our farmhouse are located, in West Liguria.
There are seven municipalities included in Diano Marina’s area. To reach them, simply take the Via Aurelia, the ancient consular road that separates the area by the sea from the hinterland, and follow the signs for the surrounding villages. At each bend it is a feast for the eyes. Diano Marina, San Bartolomeo al Mare and Cervo dominate the coast; while in the hinterland of the Gulf of Diano ˗ surrounded by olive trees and the typical terracing where local agricultural products are grown ˗ we are surprised by the hamlets of Diano Marina and the nearby medieval villages: Diano Castello, Diano San Pietro, Diano Arentino and Villa Faraldi.
San Pietro (or Evigno), Steria and Varcavello are the streams that cross the Gulf. Take note of their names: they will come in handy when you hike through the valleys of the territory.
There is no place we prefer more than another: every corner of the Gulf of Diano, from inland to the coast, tells us about home.Municipalities and hamlets
