As we told you in part in the article about our history, it took years and a lot of work before we got to realize our farmholidays. We started from the family farm, which still represents the fulcrum of our activity, to arrive at the construction of an accommodation facility with holiday apartments in our beloved Diano Marina.
In this article we will see together all the steps that over the years have led us to the construction of the Agriturismo Le Girandole.
Between the '70s and '80s our production was still exclusively agricultural and concentrated mainly on basil grown in greenhouses. The general town plan of those years, however, foresaw that the new railway would pass right on the land where our house was located, partly also involving greenhouses. For this reason, in the early 90s we purchased a plot of land adjacent to the current farmholidays. In this way, if the town plan had been confirmed and forced us to tear down the house, we would at least have had the opportunity to build a new one.
Originally four strips (the typical Ligurian terracing) ran along the whole of our property. Around 1999 we began the earthworks: from four strips only two more extended ones remained. In this phase we realized the skeleton of the current farmholidays and, under the structure, we obtained a warehouse that we still use today for the packaging of our oxheart tomatoes .
The phase that involved the construction of the foundations of the farmholidays ˗ the remaking of the most modern walls of the strips and the construction of the warehouse ˗ lasted until 2002. From 2003 to 2010 the situation remained unchanged.
By 2010, the railroad threat had vanished. In fact, work had already begun on what would be the final line further upstream. At this point Father Schenardi had the idea to open a farm: we all accepted with enthusiasm and started the work. First of all we realized the enlargement of the attic, which became the studio apartment Edera, and we completed the interiors. Within two years we decided on the layout of the apartments, their names and furnishings.
Only the name was missing. At this point Mother Nives brought back to mind a childhood memory: Diano Marina's walk on a festive day, filled with the cheerful colours of the pinwheels. They were vivid and joyful fragments of the past, and the whole family accepted the idea of reproducing that atmosphere in the common project. This is how the Agriturismo Le Girandole was born.
After the official opening in 2012, we continued to make changes and improvements to make our dream come true. In our mind we had clear what the farmholidays should be like: a comfortable refuge for our guests. For this reason, in May 2015 we closed the structure to allow the Pavesmac company to work on the external paving: 380 square meters of pebbles from the entrance to the back of the farmholidays.
The following year (2016) we introduced air conditioning in the apartments Edera and Non ti scordar di me. In 2017 we focused instead on services: we built an outdoor barbecue area and a bicycle parking lot. We always wanted to promote an idea of an active holiday, and for this reason from the few bikes of the beginnings, we came to make available 21: 18 for adults and 3 for children.
Finally, in 2019 we also added conditioning in the three-room apartments Ginestra e Gelsomino. These were the most important structural works so far. During these years we have never stopped taking care of the details of the holiday homes, to ensure maximum comfort to our guests. We have embellished the interiors, purchased crockery and appliances: toasters, minipimers, high chairs, cots and drawers, electric kettles, hairdryers, etc.
Let's not hide the fact that the ideas keep running in our heads, and there are many projects. Who knows what the new look of Agriturismo Le Girandole will be in the future?
